April Fool's day is just around the corner. If you are the type that loves to do pranks you are certain to like these. If you aren't that type you at least need to be prepared to "get back" at your friends/spouses/coworkers, or even your boss, when they do something to you on April Fool's day.
Below are a few things you can do to harmlessly "mess up" their computer. These pranks are easy and quick, harmless and their computer can quickly be restored. Try them on your computer to make sure you know how to quickly do them.
Make all of their desktop icons disappear
This works especially well on people that have their entire desktop covered with icons. Imagine their horror when they realize all of their desktop links have disappeared. This can be done in as little as two or three seconds. You can restore their icons just as quickly.
If you can't see any portion of the desktop, hit WINDOWS+D to minimize all windows. Right click any blank area on the desktop (where there are no windows). A menu will appear. Place the mouse over the "View" menu option. A submenu will appear. The “Show Desktop Icons” menu item will have a check mark next to it. Click it. Their icons will disappear. If you hit WINDOWS+D in step 1, hit it again to un-minimize their windows.
To restore the icons do the same steps as above.
"Break" their mouse
You can make their mouse "freeze up" with just a one inch piece of tape. Here's how you do it:
Use tape that isn't clear. If you can't find non-clear tape cut a piece of paper about 1/2 inch by 1/2 inch and stick the paper to clear tape. Now you are ready to do the dastardly deed. Simply turn their mouse upside down and completely cover the opening (with the red light shining out of it) with the tape. Make sure the tape isn't showing when the mouse is set back on the desk. Their mouse pointer won't move on the screen because when they move it on the desktop it won't detect the movement.
Turn their display upside-down or sideways
This will only work if they have a specific display adapter. You can find out simply by trying it. It is really quick and easy to do.
If you hit CTRL+ALT+DOWNARROW their display will turn upside-down. If you hit CTRL+ALT+LEFTARROW their display will be turned to the left side. If you hit CTRL+ALT+RIGHTARROW their display will be turned to the right side. Hit CTRL+ALT+UPARROW and their display will be restored.
These pranks should help you be prepared if you need to "return the favor" when someone does a prank on you. Have fun on April Fool's day.
