All-in-one PC’s are in every major retailer, both on and off line. What makes one stand above the rest? Well, the Lenovo B50 will soon show you the answers to that question.

Recently, I was able to review the newest of the best to come out of Lenovo. The B50 is the Rolls Royce of the all-in-one world, but without the built by hand price tag.

As tested, some of the specs include (but not limited to);

1 TB Hard Drive 12 Gigs of Ram Dolby Sound with JBL Stereo Speakers Bluetooth 4.0 4th Generation Intel Core processor LED Multi Touch Screen

Setup, including wireless setup, activation, and assembly of the pedestal, took less than 10 minutes.

Once that was done, testing encompassed many typical functions;

Startup/Shutdown speed General application performance Installation of various programs for testing including office suites, graphics software, optional browsers, etc. Install of printers and speed of data going to the printer Online gaming with “ Star Wars the Old Republic ” Audio and Video quality Music Netflix Youtube Bluetooth capabilities USB transfer speeds

Again, after the setup, typical startup took less than 30 seconds, as did the shutdown. Industry standard apps were installed, either with a license owned by the reviewer or public domain software such as OpenOffice.

Application performance was at a staggering speed, even with heavy graphic intensive apps or complex database apps. One task that definitely benefitted by the loaded memory and the power of the 4th generation Intel processor was general programming. Whether it was in an older language such as raw HTML, or a newer platform such as Perl or ASP, there was no lag when coding.

Equally impressive was the speed of browsing, especially when using an alternative browser such as Chrome or Firefox.

In terms of WiFi printing, some of it can depend on the speed of your network, but in testing, I didn’t even see the printer come up when using quick print. All I did was hit the button and then the printer started. There was no noticeable lag time at all.

The preface to this next test is that the B50 is not advertised as a gaming setup. However, do not let that deter you from playing any MMORPG games, because it’s performance will actually amaze you. It was tested with Star Wars; The Old Republic . The included mouse and keyboard were used and a Bluetooth headset (Bluetooth capabilities will be reviewed shortly). There was no lag time, nor slow downs of any nature. This may be in part to the 4th generation Intel Core combined with the whopping 12 gigs of ram.

The sound quality of the B50 can not be beat by any all-in-one device seen in the column. The basses are low, the trebles are high and there is a perfect middle. It didn’t matter what genre of music you listen to. You will not be disappointed. No extra speakers needed here, Lenovo has given you all you need.

As far as video is concerned, there is such a clear difference when you finally look at an LED screen. There is no pixilation, no lag, and you will be amazed at the clarity.

With sound in mind, Bluetooth connectivity was also tested with the Jabra Revo wireless headset. There was never any dropping of transmission, and if you have a headset with built in controls, you do just that, control the music, sound, everything.

As far as external peripherals, you better have devices that can keep up with the speed of the computer itself. A 32 gig flashdrive was copied to the desktop in, what appeared to be less than 2 seconds.

The Lenovo B50 is the new “it” in all-in-one computers. Is it because of its quality? Its power? It’s looks? Its price? Its ability? YES. Not to just one, but to all. Learn more at Lenovo’s Website .
