Lindsey Vonn was rushed to a nearby hospital in Austria via airlift on Tuesday, Feb. 5 following a horrifying crash during the Alpine World Championships in Schladming according to TMZ reports.
The Olympic gold medal winner is reported to have lost her balance after an awkward landing during her run. Vonn was said to have lost her ski before she went crashing into a nearby gate during the super-G.
Medical personal on the scene evaluated Lindsey Vonn's injuries believing that Vonn suffered a tibial plateau fracture( a break in the shinbone) before she was airlifted by helicopter and flown to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Fans across the social networks such as Twitter are flooding the site sending out their best wishes to the injured Vonn, while awaiting the reports on her condition.
Lindsey Vonn's U.S. teammates had no immediate information on her condition. The unfortunate crash came almost exactly one year before the start of the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia.
Vonn just recently returned to the ski circuit in January after a month-long break from racing to fully recover from an intestinal illness that put her in a hospital for two days in November.
Lindsey Vonn trailed race winner Tina Maze of Slovenia by by just 0.12 seconds shortly before the crash.
Vonn made celebrity news headlines recently when rumors began circulating that the athlete had began dating pro golfer Tiger Wood s.UsMagazine.com reported that the 37-year old golfer has been dating Vonn since November.
