Esquire.com reported on Feb.11, 2013, that the Navy SEAL who killed the most dreaded terrorist Al Qaeda leader, Osama bin Laden broke his silence Monday and recounted his operation.

The commando while keeping his identity a secret, revealed to Esquire magazine, in an interview that he shot Laden three times in the head in the daring May 2011 raid.

Esquire quotes the SEAL as saying, "I could see his brains spilling out..I watched him take his last breath."

"He was dead. Not moving. His tongue was out. I watched him take his last breaths, just a reflex breath.

"And I remember as I watched him breathe out the last part of air, I thought: Is this the best thing I've ever done, or the worst thing I've ever done?" Read the complete interview here .

The commando is now an unemployed civilian with financial problems and he worries for his family's security.

The SEAL said that Laden looked confused when the commandos attacked him in his hideout in Abbottabad, Pakistan.

Laden pushed his youngest wife ahead for cover and had an AK-47 assault rifle nearby. The SEAL is not sure if she had a vest.

With the gun in reach, the commando sensed that it was a threat and so he shot him, two times in the forehead and he went down. When he crumpled onto the floor he shot the third one.

The article addressed the anonymous commando as "the Shooter," and focused on the commando's plight with an unknown identity as a hero, but without a pension or health insurance and without extra security for his family.
