It's official - Sonos has today introduced their own soundbar, in the form of the Sonos Playbar.
The soundbar will allow users to connect it directly to their TV, cable box, etc., via optical cable and supports Dolby Digital audio. Much like it's other speakers, the soundbar can connect to the Sonos wireless system for streaming music while also allowing for the use of two additional Play: 3s for rear speakers and the Sonos Sub for a full surround experience.

"Playbar will change everything about the sound experience in your living room, bringing together amazing HiFi sound for your TV and wireless access to the world's music in a radically simple way."
Playbar includes nine amplified speakers: six woofers and three tweeters, while its built-in sensors automatically adjust the EQ and channel orientation. Sonos has also released a free software update for the Sonos Wireless HiFi System (v.4.0) which adds some enhancements for quicker play of music from any source, both online, radio or from your music library. The app is available on iOS and Android.
Set for a release on March 5, the Sonos Playbar will retail for $699 and will be available at Sonos.com, Amazon.com, Best Buy / Magnolia Home Theater, P.C. Richard & Son and other national retailers.
