Time is running out to become part of the most innovative invention since the pen. It is the $75 3-D pen called the 3Doodler currently under development by WobbleWorks.
It is a wand that looks somewhat like a glue gun. The user draws in the air with it and it creates three-dimensional objects. It does this by melting and then rapidly cooling plastic as the user draws. For greater precision, the user can draw on a stencil and then join pieces together. So far, the 3Doodler has been used to create artwork, toys, and replacement parts.
The pen is being funded through Kickstarter . It is already fully funded, but there are a few $75 pledge opportunities left. Backers who pledge now will get a pen in January 2014 if all goes well.
