After a brief period online as a bit of lulz , the hackers that posted the financial and private information (also known as "doxxing") of a number of celebrities have taken the site down. The hackers posted a farewell message on Saturday , and then just a few hours later, the site ( http://www.exposed.eu ) was gone.
The hackers who broke into America’s three major credit-reporting databases -- Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion -- were searching for big bank accounts to loot, according to experts. However, when discovered they had access to a rich cache of high-profile celebrities, they diverted themselves by putting the information online.
Before taking the site down, the hackers posted a farewell message. They said:
Hello everyone, this is our final message. Behind this jolly visage of rainbows and top hats, we are people. People with a preference for music, a preference for food; we have varying taste in clothes and television, we are just like you. Even Hitler and Osama Bin Laden had these unique variations and style, and isn't that interesting to know?
We have enjoyed every minute of the past 12 days of providing entertainment and laughs to all of you. Sadly it’s time to say bon voyage -- we hope -- inspiration, fear, denial, happiness, approval, disapproval, mockery, embarrassment, thoughtfulness, jealousy, hate, even love.

As was reported earlier , the hackers seemed to be fans of Showtime's serial killer of serial killers, "Dexter." That last line above came from the season two finale of "Dexter," "The British Invasion."
The FBI continues to investigate the cyber-break-in. UIt has good reason to. In addition to celebrities such as Beyonce and Jay-Z, the hack doxxed not just FLOTUS Michelle Obama, but also Vice-President Joe Biden, U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, and FBI director Robert Mueller.
