The Washington Post reported on April 24, 2013, that the Federal Reserve has announced to commence the circulation of a redesigned $100 bill from October .
Initially, they had planned to launch the redesigned $100 bill two years ago in February 2011.
However, in December 2010, a declaration came from the officials stating that they have postponed it for an indefinite period.
The Government began redesign process in the year 2003. The authorities claimed to require more time looking at some production issues including unwanted creases in a lot of the notes.
Finally the redesigned $100 bill has got the release date of Oct. 8 this year. The new bill features enhanced security.
You can see a blue, 3-D security ribbon and a disappearing Liberty Bell in an inkwell added upon the redesigned $100 bill.
The blue ribbon comprises of thousands of tiny lenses. The extensive redesign of the $100 bill is aimed at thwarting forgery.
