The Reuters reported on April 13, 2013, that five people were killed in a fire sparked by an electrical short circuit in a house in Idaho on Saturday.


A family of four and a teenage guest who was staying for the night after a birthday celebration were burnt alive.


Fire officials who were at the spot said, the fire had spread across the home and the smoke inhalation caused the deaths by the time firefighters arrived at 1:38 a.m. local time.


Orofino Fire Chief Mike Lee said, ""It is the worst tragedy we've ever had in Orofino, fire-wise." He added that fire marshals in Idaho reported they have not come across a house fire that took so many lives.


Lee added that everybody at the home were likely asleep when the fire engulfed into the rooms on the ground floor. The residence was not equipped with smoke alarms and fire equipments.


Reportedly there were no signs of foul play. The autospies of the dead will be done next week. The victims names were withheld by the police.
