Reuters reported on April 21, 2013, that the authorities had to temporarily evacuate a terminal at John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York City on Sunday due to the investigation of a suspicious package.
Officer James Duffy stated that the package was found to have a toothpaste tube wrapped in adhesive tape.
Quoting Duffy, Reuters mentioned "We determined that it only contained toothpaste."
Chris Valens, a spokesman for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey reported that the suspected package was found shortly after 4 p.m. EDT (2000 GMT) hidden in the baggage room area of Concourse B in Terminal 4. The officials re-opened the terminal after around 90 minutes.
The evacuation of the terminal is the result of the tense atmosphere created by two of the incidents that happened lately.
One being the bomb explosion during Marathon in Boston and other suspicious letters addressed to President Barack Obama and Republican U.S. Senator Roger Wicker of Mississippi that were infected with poison ricin.
