The Times of India reported on April 19, 2013, that former Pakistan President Parvez Musharraf was arrested from his farmhouse at Chak Shahzad near Islamabad on Friday and was remanded to two days in Police custody.

The 69-year-old fled Islamabad High Court in his SUV with black tinted glasses along with his bodyguards Thursday morning after a judge ordered his arrest in a case involving his decision to sack senior judges.

The representatives of Musharraf described the court's decision as "unwarranted judicial activism" that was "seemingly motivated by personal vendettas". They said they will appeal against the verdict at the Supreme Court.

The judge also directed authorities to charge Musharraf under the Anti-Terrorism Act for his dealings during the 2007 emergency in Pakistan.

Qamar Afzal, Musharraf's lawyer argued that the former president must be kept in judicial custody as there were threats to his life.

Last week, Musharraf was disqualified from contesting the May assembly elections in Pakistan, all his four applications to contest from various cities were rejected, ending his ambitions of a political comeback.

The magistrate also barred him from flying out of Pakistan.
