The Fox News reported on April 11, 2013, that a 16-year-old boy by name Taylor Dorman died after being hit in the chest by a softball during gym class at a California high school.
Taylor Dorman was playing with the improvised softball "Over the Line" at his San Diego-area school when he was hit hard in the chest with the ball.
Ramona High School Principal Tony Newman said, ""After being hit Taylor complained of his chest hurting then he collapsed".
Taylor Dorman was airlifted by a helicopter to the Palomar Medical Center in Escondido where he died a few hours later.
Many of his school friends held a candlelight vigil in front of the school Wednesday night.
Katie Scroggins, a friend of the victim posted on Facebook, “I never thought in a million years someone would die at the high school. Especially not someone in my p.e. class.
“RIP Taylor Dorman. You will be missed by many.”
All the students and staff of the school gathered Wednesday evening to mourn Dorman's death and also celebrate his birthday, which was on the same day.
