Scientists have revealed that they could have a cure for gray hair very soon. Live Science reports on Monday, May 6 that researchers are currently developing a cure for gray hair, that could also be used as a treatment for vitiligo.
Gerald Weissmann, a biologist stated,
“Numerous remedies have been concocted to hide grey hair but now, for the first time, an actual treatment that gets to the root of the problem has been developed.”
Experts found people go grey due to a build up of hydrogen peroxide in the hair follicle, causing it to bleach itself from the inside out.
The effect can be reversed by applying a compound called PC-KUB.
A team of researchers, including scientists from the University of Bradford, also found the treatment would work on the skin condition vitiligo, which causes loss of pigmentation, and are saying this is very exciting news.
Gray hair — one of the classic signs of aging that can lead to a midlife crisis — may soon be a thing of the past, much to the chagrin of hair-dye manufacturers and Corvette salesmen.
While many consider gray hair just one of the many signs of aging, others fight a never ending battle with hair dresser's appointments or bottles of messy hair dyes to avoid the process like the plague.
Today, many are discussing the possibility of a gray hair cure via the social networks such as Twitter, with many tweeters wondering if a cure for gray hair is found will it effect the economy putting many hair dye companies, and hair dressers out of a job ?
