May the fourth be with you! You will likely see this all over your Facebook and Twitter feeds as May 4 is Star Wars day. Star Wars is such a cultural phenomenon that it has received its own holiday. The classic space opera is so embedded in our popular culture that it’s no surprise that the internet is packed full of homages, memes, and other random shout-outs.
From the goofy backwards talk of Yoda, to the giant space mob boss/slug Jabba the Hutt, Star Wars is full of iconic characters and moments that people love to pay tribute to no matter how obscure. Practically every periphery character has a wealth of backstory provided for them by the fanatically dedicated fans, even if they were only on the screen for a brief second.
So spend the day doing your best Chewbacca impression, pretending your trash can is R2-D2, or just going back a long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away while watching the movies. And unless you have to go to Tosche Station to pick up some power converters, enjoy this list of the fanboy-ish relationship between the internet and Star Wars.
