Seems robots, big and small, cute and awkward are making news lately. Here's a roundup of reports on our wired friends, from some of Technorati's Top Science, Technology, Entertainment and Living blogs.
Laughing Squid reports and has an embedded video on the Adam Z1 Project, designed to create the most intelligent robot on record, an open-sourced machine with the intelligence of your average three-year-old. Which means he'll be perfect at getting under the skin of any older child during long car trips.

Gizmag highlights Rosphere, the little round robot ball that looks and moves like a self-propelled hamster cage. Designed to monitor public areas such as farms, I can definitely see this little guy patrolling parks, museums and businesses at night.

Inquisitr serves up a post and embedded video on Kirobo, a cute Japanese robot about to be launched into space. Hooking up with the International Space Station soon after launch on August 4th, Kirobo is designed to converse with humans, and will perform human-robot interactions while orbiting Earth.

Huffington Post reports that Honda's Asimo robot was put to work at a museum for robotics, but despite his advanced features didn't fare all that well at dealing with us carbon-based units.

Also from Gizmag is the downright spine-shivering robot ape army that may someday come to fruition, designed to perhaps colonize the moon (or elsewhere). As long as they aren't roaming our planet, I suppose I'm good with it...
