Amazon is constantly innovating and surprising us consumers and online retailers. Not only did Jeff Bezos agree on Monday to buy the Washington Post and pen a column about the purchase, but on Tuesday Amazon.com announced its new "Fine Art" gallery via a press release .
The Amazon art gallery already features famous artists such as Andy Warhol, Damien Hirst, Marc Chagall and Salvador Dali, and also informs art collectors how they potentially can have their art collection featured on Amazon.
"Thank you for your interest in selling fine art on Amazon!" reads the page on "Go Amazon Services" which collects required information such as name, gallery name, website, phone number and email address for those interested in getting their artwork on Amazon.
"If you are the owner or a representative of an art gallery, please complete the form below and we will follow up shortly," it reads, pointing to the form with fields to enter information.
Independent artists, however, take heed: Amazon is not ready to grab your daughter's painting and allow you to start selling it just yet in their "Fine Arts" store.
"We are not accepting applications directly from artists," reads the same page, so apparently those folks who are hankering to see their paintings on Amazon may do well to check out the website’s “Comic Creator” module, or get books that teach how to get photos, artwork and words into a Kindle book on Amazon instead of in their “Fine Arts” gallery for the time being.
