The iPhone rumor mill is heating up online once again, as it's believed Apple will bring out the new Apple iPhone 5S release date within a month. The latest rumors going around are that the latest iPhone will possibly be announced during a special Sept. 10 event. This could bring the sixth member of the illustrious lineup of Apple-based smartphones to the already competitive market.
A report from UPI.com on Aug. 11 claims that the new phone's identifying name isn't quite known yet, as iPhone 5S, 5c and 6 have all been rumored titles. However, the fact that Apple has a new mobile operating system, iOS 7, which was unveiled in June, has led many to believe that once the new iOS is released, it will be in conjunction with a brand new smartphone too.
Among the iPhone rumored features for the newest Apple device are a fingerprint-scan technology. This special new feature would possibly allow owners of the iPhone to identify themselves by pressing their finger onto the new home button. The feature could reportedly eliminate the need for a passcode and instead allow an iPhone owner to access their phone by their registered-fingerprint on the device.
There's also the possibility that the newest iPhone will be made out of Sapphire, rather than plastic. According to UPI, KGI securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said of the material mentioned in the new iPhone rumor:
"Sapphire prevents home button from being scratched. A convex home button could be more easily scratched, so a harder material is required. We believe Apple will switch from plastic to sapphire, whose hardness is second only to diamond. Sapphire would protect the home button from being scratched and the fingerprint sensor from being damaged."
The previous version of Apple's smartphone, the iPhone 5, had a release date of Sept. 21, 2012 in the United States and was available to most countries by December of the same year. As of the present date, Apple has unveiled six models of their iPhone, with the first generation made available back in June of 2007. Models following after the original have included iPhone 3G, iPhone 3G S, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S and the iPhone 5, leading many to believe a 5S is the next in line.
So mark those calendars for Sept. 10, 2013, as it could be the big day that the newest member of the iPhone family is no longer a rumor, and officially a reality!
