Ah, you're going along, looking hip as you talk on your smartphone when the earphone's cord suddenly snags on something. The earbuds are ripped from your ears as your $700 phone crashes to the ground. Not that much fun. Especially on a motorcycle.

Enter BlueTooth headphones.

With a pair of those badboys on, you're not physically tethered to your phone. Instead, you're physically attached to your earphones, which are Bluetooth-edly tethered to your phone. Once you've cut the umbilical cord to your phone and it's almost like no longer being addicted to the little rectangular overlord. Or at least it's safer and more convenient. You just turn the headphones on, tether them to your device using Bluetooth, and that's it. You can control your music's volume and answer and initiate phone calls from the headphones. It connects directly to Siri or Android Voice Commands.

The Phiaton PS 20 BT is one of the better values among Bluetooth headsets. They cost around $79 on Amazon , where they are rated 4 out of 5 stars.

Pros:

Good sound Good customer service Good battery life

Cons:

Several customer have said that the item suddenly stopped working between a week and four months after purchase, but that Phiaton replaced them with little hassle The button for answering or making a call is too close to the on/off switch, making it easy to turn off the earphones when you meant to make a call

Who is this good for?

Really, anyone who uses headphones but doesn't need top-notch audio quality (hey, it's still wireless) might like it. It's great for making phone calls or for listening to music while riding a motorcycle.

Helpful hints

Be careful not to mix up the Answer/Call button with the On/Off switch If it conks out on you, be sure to call the company and get a replacement
