At Apple's large event today, iOS 7 was given a release date, and it's quickly approaching too. According to AllThingsD , the mobile operating system will be released on Sept. 18. This announcement comes three months after the operating system was initially announced.
The developer version of iOS 7 has been available since the system was announced at WWDC, but now all the bugs have been worked out and it's ready for mass use. The operating system will be available for iPhone 4 phones and later iterations as well as iPads including the iPad 2 and after. The iPad mini and 5th-generation iPod Touch will also be able to update to iOS 7.
Some of the highlights include a completely reworked design that scales away from complex elements and sticks to a more modern and simplistic layout. LaptopMag also notes that one of the top features is the multitasking function that aids batter life. For anyone who hasn't found any functionality in Siri, this might be the time to give her another try. Siri has been given a ton of upgrades including Twitter search, a option for a male voice and the ability to return calls.
The Senior VP of Engineering has stated that the new update will be almost like getting an entirely new device. Around 200 new features will come with the update and Apple users won't even have to shell out a dime for it.
