It can be tough taking public transportation to work, school and just about anywhere. If your local transit's app or website doesn't make the cut when you need it most, The Transit App could be for you.
Previously an iOS exclusive, Transit updated its Android version last Friday and is available for free on the Google Play Store. It supports transit agencies in 43 cities, including select Canadian cities, Mexico City and Paris, France. A complete list of cities and transit agencies is available on the app page and its website .
Transit sports a clean user interface that makes it easy for anyone to navigate and find routes to get to their destination. The newest features in version 1.1 includes the ability to show inactive routes, the next three departure times and the distance from a stop.
One of the best features Transit has to offer is the ability to find nearby routes and arrival times upon when the app opens. When you click on a route, you can view its itinerary and map for both directions, get directions to the nearest stop and add it to your favorites for routes that you take often.
If you plan on using a transit agency not supported by Transit, Google Maps or your local transit's mobile or web app may be the way to go, but Transit is worth a look at if you're in a supported market.
