There are strings attached to every relationship with government. First, it was thugs at your door for tax reasons. But with the advent of technology, they were no longer needed. Your earnings can be withheld. What you do not feel now is the presence of those thugs watching you. With the advent of technology came espionage capabilities that let one spy watch hundreds of enemies. And it's pretty clear who the enemy is.
Anonymous, naturally, is upset about this. Hence today's profile: Operation NSA. It can be summarized as a "taste your own medicine" program. The goal is to identify representatives around the world who favor espionage against their citizens, and then to spread the details of their private lives. One user put it this way:
If we outline all the bribes and legislative reciprocations it would illustrate the depth of this, in terms of how tightly the defense contractors want our politicians. The goal is either to impeach all of them or make sure they don't get another term next election. If we were able to do that to even a FEW of them it would send a shockwave throughout our political system.
Most interestingly, the operation is calling on non-hackers to join the efforts. Poring over legislative records, identifying lobbyists, and exposing personal secrets the old fashioned way seem to be the goal. Remember, committing espionage can have serious consequences, so don't spy on fellow citizens unless you're a private contractor with a government license and have been ordered to.
