The ongoing problems with Healthcare.gov has the internet buzzing and President Obama apologizing.
President Obama addressed the issues on Monday with the healthcare exchange website stating, "Nobody's madder than me about the fact that the website isn't working as well as it should, which means it's going to get fixed."
Addressing poor performance issues on the first day of launch, October 1, President Obama stated that the site traffic, "exceeds anything that we had expected."
The numerous issues with the the United States government healthcare exchange website have made it difficult to sign up for healthcare under the provisions of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, also known as Obamacare.
Who to blame for epic fail of Healthcare.gov?
As President Obama is apologizing, many Americans try to understand what went wrong with the website.
The daily online magazine Slate explores the underlying cause of the problems in their article, "What really went wrong with healthcare.gov?"
Slate reports that the front-end static website and the back-end servers were developed by two different sets of contracted developers. The front-end architect was the company Development Seed . The Back-end developers was the company CGI Federal , a subsidiary of Montreal-based CGI Group.
While you could be quick to try to find faults that could be pinned on either company, a more interesting observation is that these two developers worked in isolation from each other.
Who was managing these two groups of contractors working together on two pieces of a system that had to work together?
