Battery life

We streamed HD videos on the Dell Venue Pro 8 for eight hours with brightness levels almost all the way up. Our tablet still had five percent battery life left. This is outstanding, especially for a tablet that runs a full desktop operating system.

The Dell Venue 8 is the first Windows 8 or 8.1 tablet that you don't need to carry a charger with all the time. Most users will be able to get one or two day's of use on a single charge. The battery life (considering the processor and operating system) is the most impressive we have seen on a tablet in years.

Conclusion

The Dell Venue Pro 8 is the proof that Microsoft needs to show that Windows 8.1 tablets really do work. We wish that Microsoft had a bigger selection of tablet apps, but it's not a big problem. After all, you can run any desktop app on the Dell Venue Pro 8.

We also liked Microsoft's Surface Pro 2. However, the Surface Pro is more of a laptop replacement with tablet capabilities than an actual tablet. The Dell Venue Pro 8 is actually the first Windows 8 or 8.1 tablet that is actually a tablet.
