How did you spend your holidays? Did you buy anything online? Did you do a Google search for holiday-themed wallpapers or images? Did you send any holiday e-cards? Chances are, you sent an email wishing someone happy holidays.
Anyone who has an active internet connection can never say that they're bored. There is so much to do online that it's virtually (pun intended) impossible. Chat rooms, groups, and so many socially active web sites can also make it impossible for someone not to interact with others.
Online sales were probably high again this year, and they seem to increase more and more every year.
Social media sites were also very busy with people sending each other greetings for the holiday season. Hanukkah, Christmas, Kwanzaa, Boxing Day, and New Year wishes kept all of those sites busy.
"The War On Christmas" is nothing but an attempt to keep things interesting. Don't say "Happy Holidays"? Don't say "Merry Christmas"? Then don't. What's the problem? Greet people as you'd like to greet them, not as others dictate that you should. The truth is, there IS no war on Christmas.
Now that we've begun a new year, things will calm down until next year, when it starts all over again.
