Pull over iPhone 6, there’s a new sheriff in town; Sheriff Nokia Lumia, badge number 1520. Nokia has been in the cellphone industry so long, it can be considered a Godfather of technology. It “phablet” the Lumia 1520 can do whatever you need to do, from documents, to surfing, to emailing and more.
The Lumia 1520 has a beautiful 1080p display, fast Snapdragon 800 processor and 20-megapixel camera. Its 6” display is easy on the eyes. It boasts a massive battery talk time of up to 24 hours of talk time at 3g speeds. It comes with an array of Windows 8 apps which truly make it like a mini desktop computer. With a mICROSD card, you can have upto 64 gigs of storage for your docs, photos, videos and other files.
Windows phone’s newest update to the mobile OS has intense support for the 180p full HD displays which makes viewing of movies as good as it gets.
Nokia did a great job in conforming to all the specs that Microsoft supports. This really is top of the line.
So how was it tested?

As a phone, it performed to the “T”. At least with AT&T, there were minimal dead zones, and all calls were crystal clear. This was noticeable with or without a Bluetooth headset or speaker phone. Note that its internal speaker phone was excellent as well.
As for apps, it comes with Office Home and Student which includes Word, Excel, Powerpoint and OneNote. They are as easy to use as they are on your desktop or laptop. A note though, If you are planning on really using these apps heavily, it is suggested you get a Bluetooth keyboard as the keyboard is (all be it bigger than most smart phones) small and larger hands may have some issues. That is not a complaint or criticism, just an observation. It has a link to the app store where you can download to your heart’s content, keeping in mind storage constraints.
As mentioned in the prior paragraph, a keyboard is a good investment. This was tested with the Favi Wireless Keyboard and Touchpad Mouse, reviewed here in 2012. In fact, with that keyboard, this entire article was written and published using the Nokia Lumia 1520. How’s that for practical?
So you have seen the ads boasting a 20 MP camera. Yes, it’s all true. When tested with a full sized camera also at 20 MP, there is no difference. None what so ever. The details were sharp, the clarity was perfect. You can easily print them too via apps and utilities for your printer available at the Windows Phone store. With the availability of aftermarket attachments, you can turn the camera into a wide angle, zoom or macro device. At 20 MP, it can’t be beat.
To manage it and transfer docs, photos, etc. back and forth, simply connect it via USB to your pc and it automatically sets it up.
