For those who use Wordpress , the latest update to 4.0 (nicknamed “Benny”, after jazz clarinetist and bandleader, Benny Goodman ), is the best, so far, when it comes to content focussed blogging. The edits in the back office for creating and posting content make it even easier to see how content will show up on the blog, though it will never replace having two tabs open while adding content - one for adding, and one for previewing.

The first feature that has everyone who has ever used Wordpress buzzing is the scrolling toolbar! This allows for keeping the content editing toolbar in place at all times no matter how far down the page is scrolled. It is still a wonder why this was not a top priority before now.

Embedding media has gotten a whole lot better. Now a live version of the media - YouTube videos, embedded tweets, images, etc., - are live within the content editing screen.

The plugin browser was updated too with a better user experience. Gone are the days of looking at that homely plugin screen within the back office. The new, fresh look is more viewer friendly and easier to navigate.

Adding media to the media library adds a better “visual experience” to Wordpress 4.0. Infinite scroll was added to the media library giving better and faster control over adding, editing, finding, and grouping media. Clicking through a file opens a larger media editing screen, while video and audio files can be played on the same screen. Awesome!

While these small tweaks may not seem like a goldmine, those who are jumping from an older version of Wordpress to 4.0 will have a lot of new features to play around with and enjoy. The new features actually make adding content on Wordpress pleasant.
