At CES, smartphones will be aplenty, and LG has taken the opportunity to reveal its G Flex2 - it's second shot at a curved smartphone.

Building on the strengths of the original, and seemingly aiming to improve on its weaknesses, the G Flex2 is sleeker and more powerful than its predecessor. Featuring a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 process with an octa-core 64-bit CPU, it comes in a slightly smaller design than the original, with a more manageable 5.5-inch screen that has a full HD display. The back cover from the original also heals itself faster, according to LG.

According to Engadget , who went hands-on with the device at CES, it feels a lot more comfortable than the first G Flex and the phone's design brings the microphone closer to your mouth.

It will run Android 5.0 and comes with a 3,000mAh battery, while also featuring gesture-based functionality for viewing photos and taking them as well.

“The original G Flex demonstrated LG’s pioneering spirit and with the G Flex2 we have refined the curved form factor, staying true to our philosophy of innovation for a better life,” said Juno Cho, president and CEO of the LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company. “The G Flex2 not only has the stunning looks, it also has the powerful guts to be at the cutting edge of current smartphone technology. Simply put, it’s a true head-turner in every sense of the word.”

There will be 16 and 32GB versions of the phone, which also comes with a microSD slot for up to 2TB of additional storage, along with 2GB of DDR4 RAM, a 13-megapixel rear-camera and a 2.1-megapixel front camera.

The LG G Flex2 is already confirmed to be made available by AT&T.
