The Apple Watch launches in a little less than a week, but if you're planning to waltz right into your local Apple Store on launch day to get a specific configuration, you’re out of luck pal. A source from within a flagship location said yesterday:
We’re told [by Apple] to treat launch day as if there will be no walk-in stock.”
Your best bet is to either preorder or place a reservation for one at the Apple Store Reservation site, naturally.
Don’t Lose Hope
If you really, really want one on launch day, it doesn’t mean there won’t be any Apple Watches at the Apple Stores, but people who have placed reservations or preorders for the wunderkind device will be given top priority or first dibs on the stock at hand. And if the Apple Watch takes off, this probably means very little selection for walk-ins.
But the smart bet is to preorder.
Take Them for a Test Run
For those who want to play with one of the possible hottest selling electronic devices for 2015, they’ll have a chance on April 10 at Apple Stores to try one on for about 15-minutes for the Sport and stainless steel editions.
It’s evident that there will be high interest during these demo sessions, but what happens when some customers become too enthusiastic about clinging onto their Apple Watch demo units?
According to one Apple Store source:
It’s not like we’ll kick out the Sport and stainless steel customers if they’re taking too long.”
This may be true, but if you’re a hog on time, most likely a nice Apple Rep will ask you to make room for others.
Although all models will be shown at selected Apple Stores, the high-end 18-karat gold edition will only be featured at Apple’s most prestigious, high-traffic flagship locations.
During the April 10th demo sessions, customers will be able to place their preorders for the Apple Watch of their choice.
