Rumors have gained momentum lately that Amazon is going launch its own model of smartphone somewhere near June 2013. The smartphone is said to have a 4.7 inch display so as to match the consumer requirements of large screen.
Smartphones and smartphone operating systems have become popular in the global technology market in recent years due to the improvements in mobile technology. New technology in mobile phones, often referred as Smartphone Technology has contributed enough to make mobility a common phenomenon.
Different mobile OSs and mobile vendors have setup strong grounds in mobile market by providing their own feature-rich devices and mobile applications, which highlight and differentiate them among the others. To make use of this growing market, the internet giant Amazon is also rumored to show its participation in adding a gadget int the smartphone market.
Amazon has already been a contributor to the mobile industry when it came out with its tablet a few years ago, The Amazon Kindle. Similar to Kindle's approach, Amazon smartphone is also expected to target at the lower end of the market with a low budget smartphone.The smartphone is said to be modestly priced and is expected to fall between $100-$200 to target the average income group of people around the globe.
Some other speculations about the new device are:
A screen size of 4.7 inches so as to match the demand of big screen size, which is quite popular among the smartphone users these days. The new device is likely to run on an Android Platform so as to reduce the price of its device by deploying an open source mobile OS. The device will be assembled and build by Foxconn , notably famous name known as the manufacturer of some giants in mobile market like iPad and iPhone.
However, the initial screen size of the phone was expected to be around 4.3 inches but with increasing demands for larger screen size, Amazon reconsidered the specs of the device and increased it to 4.7 inches.
Will the devices work as independent one only or with a carrier contract? is a question that has not been answered yet. The launch date has also not been disclosed till now as there are some manufacturing issues by Foxconn while building the device. Some suggests that device will launch in the second-quarter of 2013 while others say that there could be a delay in the release due to these issues.
This delay could be beneficiary for Amazon as another rumor about the release of iPhone 5S, which is expected to occur during the same time and this gives a chance to Amazon's device to target to the lower level of the market.
