Yahoo news reported on July 11, 2013 that Grammy Award-winning singer Randy Travis had a brain surgery on Wednesday night at a Texas hospital following a stroke.

Fans and country music stars are praying together for his recovery.

It was just a few hours back that doctors said that Travis was showing signs of improvement when the setback occurred.

The 54-year-old singer was on recovery treatment for heart failure due to a viral infection when he had the stroke.

His publicist Kirt Webster said that the singer is still in critical condition after surgery.

Stars like Hillary Scott of Lady Antebellum, Martina McBride and the Grand Ole Opry expressed their concern on Twitter.

The "Three Wooden Crosses" singer performed at the CMA Music festival on June 7, 2013.

Travis was in good health until three weeks before when he contracted a viral upper respiratory infection.

The infection led to a weakened heart muscle which eventually led to heart failure.

Travis was trying to put his life back together following embarrassing incidents due to alcohol.

He was found guilty of driving under alcohol influence in January after an arrest last year. He received a fine of $2,000 and two years of probation.

This also included 100 hours of community service and spending at least 30 days at an alcohol treatment facility.

A traditional country purist, Travis is known for hits like "I Told You So" , "Forever and Ever, Amen" and "Storms of Life".

Singer Keith Urban said in an interview that he always feel like Travis is a part

of his family and he became a Randy fan after he bought 'Storms of Life' in late '80s.
