The Huffingtonpost reported on July 14, 2013, that a huge number of protesters blocked on the 10 Freeway in the Mid-City area following the Trayvon Martin verdict Sunday night.
The Los Angeles Police Department announced a citywide alert. The officials reported that a few portions of the Freeway were closed from 6:20 p.m. to 6:44 p.m. The road is currently open.
The LAPD reported that majority of the protests were peaceful. However, a few segments were protesting aggressively.
Some of the protesters were slowing down traffic at the Crenshaw Boulevard. Thus police patrol cars and motorcycles were monitoring the area. The video clip made by TV showed the protesters walking with placards.
It was also reported that some of the protestors even threw rocks and D-cell batteries at police.
Police had to backfire using rubber rounds at the protesters. One of the demonstrators has been arrested on account of throwing rocks.
The protesters were shouting the slogan “Justice for Trayvon!”
Reportedly, more than 200 demonstrators gathered in Leimert Park Sunday and they surrounded three patrol cars. The police came out of the cars and didn’t take any action.
