Feet are one of the most sensitive parts of the body. C’mon. I said ONE of the most sensitive. Actually, they have more neuro-receptors (200,000) than anywhere else. Reason? To maintain balance as homo-sapiens travel through life.

So what did homo-sapiens do? Invented shoes with hard soles, multi-padded inner soles and/or high heels. If your feet haven’t thanked you recently, that’s probably why.

Tune Footwear to the rescue

Realizing the need for shoes that work “with” your feet, instead of against all those tiny neuro gizmos, Tune Footwear has come out with a line of shoes that you can wear anywhere. We aren’t talking dance shoes either.

The line of Barefoot Shoes has four styles for guys that look good for work, home or play. Pick from:

Penny loafer Tassel loafer Ornamented Boat shoe

Every one is ideally built for all day comfort in a minimalist style. Flexible soles have just an 8 mm outsole which affords all the protection you need, while still allowing you to feel the ground surface.

With the essentially flat sole from front to back, you won’t experience “heel striking,” which I’m told is bad for your foot from a biomechanical standpoint. A flat shoe supposedly promotes the most natural stride.

Lastly, all these shoes have a full-sized “toe box” – meaning your toes don’t get scrunched into those pointy Italian shoes.

So what’s the bottom line?

I’ve been trying out the boat shoes for the last couple weeks and I’m happy to report that they have been comfortable – both with socks and without. I spent many a day completely barefoot in the shoes and felt just fine. No sticking, no sweating, no problem.

Do I walk better? Can’t really say, but I think they do keep you more alert. For sure, they were comfortable for the 16-hour days I wore them.

The other thing I like best about them is their light weight. Where else are you going to find a pair of shoes you can wear to work that only weight 15.6 oz. for the pair? When traveling, that’s also a great deal if your luggage is pushing the maximum weight limit.

Check out all their styles at http://www.tunefootwear.com/categories/ . Tip: order slightly large. Where I often wear a 9-1/2 dress shoe and a 10-1/2 tennis shoe, I was more comfortable in a size 11 boat shoe.

Disclosure of Material Connection: I received the boat shoes for free from Tune Footwear as coordinated by Deep Creek Public Relations in consideration for review publication.
